Accommodation

Hotels and Guest Houses

There are ample possibilities to choose from different types of accommodation in Cork (Hotels, Guest houses, B&Bs, Airbnb, Apartments etc.) although during summer the best places tend to book up quickly may not be available if you wait too long to book.

Tyndall/UCC enjoys special (=lower) rates at several hotels nearby, from which you could benefit if you asked the organizers to help you with the booking. These are Lancaster Lodge, River Lee Hotel and Garnish House. They are marked as H1, H2 and H3 on the venue map.
Recently, some new accommodation was put on the booking.com website – Amnis House. This is a luxury student accommodation, marked like LS on the map, which serves as a hotel-type accommodation during the summer.

The organisers have negotiated a special weekly rate of 290 Euro per week with the Amnis House management (the normal rate is 85 Euro/day). To benefit from it you need to indicate your interest in the pre-registration form.

Student Halls of Residence

During the summer, students’ Halls of residences offer cheaper accommodation on a weekly basis with prices starting around 100 Euro per week. (Indicated as S on the venue map)

You can have a virtual tour and make enquiries about this type of accommodation at the following web sites:

www.sevennorthmall.com
www.carraigbarre.com (they manage three sites, all within a walking distance from the conference site, marked T on the map)

The biggest providers of the student accommodation are related to the University College Cork:
www.studentvillage.ie
www.ucccampusaccommodation.com
These campuses are not in the immediate vicinity of the Tyndall National Institute. It would take 25-30 minutes to walk to the conference site but there is a frequent bus connection.
